Far away in the North the wilderness comes to life
The real Lapland starts from the village of Vuotso. There you can find a popular sight-seeing place Pyhä Nattanen Fell. Vuotso is about 40 km south from Saariselkä.
In Tankavaara you can find the Gold Village of Tankavaara and International Gold museum. Visitors see and learn the history of world’s gold panning. You can also experience the great feeling of gold fever by yourself. You can pan the gold yourself. Almost all of the goldpanners find gold and can keep them! Gold Museum is the only international gold museum in the World and its displaying past and present of gold panning and prospecting. The basic exhibition presents the history of gold prospecting in Lapland. The Golden World, the international section, presents more than twenty countries all over the World.

Pyhä-Nattanen daytime trail takes you to marvel at the beautiful landscapes from the fell summit at 508 metres. The views change from riversides to expansive fell highland wilderness and lake landscapes.
Tankavaara Gold Village
Tankavaara Gold Village, the gate of Lapland’s gold fields, is located directly at the road E75, 30 km south of Saariselkä. Professional guides will teach you the skills needed to find the nuggets. In Tankavaara’s gold themed restaurants, visitors can enjoy food made of local ingredients and the unique atmosphere.
Gold Prospector Museum
The Gold Prospector Museum, located a half-hour drive away from Saariselkä, is the only one of its kind in the world. The museum’s permanent exhibition sheds light on Lapland’s colourful history of gold mining, showcasing the lives of the miners through objects, photographs and documentation.
How to get there?
Inari-Saariselkä is far away in the North and yet just a few hours from southern Finland. You can fly to Lapland or make an unforgettable sightseeing tour to this Arctic area by rental car.

By train and bus
The train will take you to Rovaniemi, where you will find numerous bus connections to Saariselkä and elsewhere in northern Lapland. Thanks to the well-run public transport you can even get as far as the Arctic Ocean!
Quickly reach your destination from Helsinki aboard Finnair or fly Norwegian. Charter flights from
UK and other European cities. From the airport there is regular buss connection to and from each scheduled flight.
