Fishing can take on a whole new level in the legendary rivers of northern Lapland, because the diverse waterways enable the use of different fishing methods. Many famous fishing rivers flow through the enormous wilderness areas: including the rivers Teno, Inarijoki, Ivalojoki, Näätämöjoki, Juutua and Luottojoki. River Teno is one of the world’s most productive rivers for the breeding of Atlantic salmon. In addition to the superb Lake Inarijärvi, other good fishing lakes include Ii, Muddus, Nitsi, Padar and Vuontis. You can catch several species here, from Teno salmon to the big grayling and whitefish from Lake Inarijärvi.
In northern Lapland, fishing licences are sold at the Metsähallitus Customer Service Points in Saariselkä, Ivalo and Inari. In addition, the local service providers also organise guided fishing trips.
Sometimes one just has to let go of everything else and focus on one thing... fishing.
