Aurora Holidays Northern Lights
Northern Lights Photographing course 30.1-3.2.2018
A five day (Tue-Sat) course on photographing the aurora borealis and nature in Utsjoki January 30th – February 3rd, 2018. The course will be taught by Markus Kiili.
During the course we will take photos whenever possible, night and day. We will also learn how to edit photos in Adobe lightroom. We will do the editing in between photography trips and for one full day at the end of the course. A free 30 day version of lightroom is available for download. You can download it before the course and later decide if you want to buy it for yourself.
The price of the course is 450€ per person. The price includes the five-day program. Accommodation and meals are not included.

Come to hunt Auroras in night time by snowmobile!
With its remote location in the far North without city light pollution, Inari is an ideal place for observing the Northern Lights. Once it’s dark, our guide will take you away from the village glow to a good view point. If you’re lucky and the weather is on your side, we should get to witness nature’s own dancing light show! Picnic snack will be provided by the blazing campfire.

DAY 1 | ARRIVAL
Airport transfer and check in to Hotel Inari
Transfer from Ivalo airport to Inari village. Upon check in to Hotel Inari you will receive your winter outdoor clothing for your stay as well as vouchers to Siida Sámi Museum.
Before or after dinner learn more about the Northern Lights and the nature of Inari area. Our guide will take you through the eight seasons of Lapland while presenting you beautiful pictures of the Aurora and the Arctic nature. You will learn why Northern Lights appear and learn which sites to use for aurora forecasts.
DAY 2 | SNOWSHOEING & AURORA SNOWMOBILING
Start your day by visiting the museum and getting a feel for the Inari village area by taking walks along the River Juutua and on Lake Inari. There are plenty of easy walking trails starting from the village.
Siida, the Sami Museum is the best place to learn about the indigenous people of Lapland, their history and culture. The museum also features fascinating exhibitions on Lappish nature and the enchanting Northern Lights. The museum is open Tue-Sun from 10am to 5pm.
Stay afloat on deep snow and enjoy the beauty of the wintry forest with our guide during a snowshoe walk. Our guide can answer your questions about the surrounding nature and should you get thirsty, will pour you a hot drink.

Your snowmobile tour starts in the evening to offer you the best conditions to see the Northern Lights. Keep your fingers crossed and our professional guide will take care of the rest!

DAY 3 | HUSKY SAFARI & NORTHERN LIGHTS HUNTING
In the morning, we will drive you to the husky farm for your next adventure. Help the musher prepare the team of huskies for the ride of your life. Dog sledding is a truly unique and exhilarating unique way to experience the beauty and silence of arctic nature.

If you haven’t seen the Northern Lights by snowmobile the day before, you will have a second chance tonight! When hunting for those unpredictable Northern Lights, sometimes it helps to be able to travel bigger distances in search of clear sky. Our guide knows where to get the best views and can react to the moving clouds if they decide to join us! The rest is down to luck. Please be aware that as we move into Spring, the sky starts to get dark much later, so we will delay the departure time accordingly.

DAY 4 | DEPARTURE & AIRPORT TRANSFER
Check out from hotel. It is time say goodbye to Inari village. You will be picked up 2 hours before your flight departure time. We hope you enjoyed your stay and have good memories to bring home with you.

On this Search for Northern Lights Safari you will go aurora hunting by minibus. With a little luck, if the sky is clear, the moon, the stars and even the northern lights may show up. On the way the guide will tell you stories about Lapland and the Northern lights.

Kiilopää Fell Centre Smoke Sauna Evening
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 5-8 p.m.
The sauna world of Kiilopää is named Kuurakaltio. Kuurakaltio has two electrically heated saunas (separate saunas for men and women), dressing rooms and showers (separate for women and men), a smoke sauna (shared by men and women) and a swimming spot. During the wintertime the temperature of the water is approximately –1 ºC.
Our excursion pampers you with the gentle warmth of the traditional Finnish smoke sauna. Between sauna sessions it is worth taking a dip in the fresh water of the arctic brook.

A totally unforgettable experience awaits you on the frozen fjords of Kirkenes.
This is your change to catch, learn how to cook, and most importantly EAT this mysterious creature. The Arctic King Crab is one of the most sort after meals in top restaurants, and yet here, you get to eat the best and the freshest, pulled from the fjord in front of your eyes. You all take part in helping to saw the hole in the ice and bring up the catch. You will see how the crab is prepared by your master guide, and you will be taken by snowmobile sledge (an experience in itself) to a beautiful farmhouse by the lake.
Please note: this tour is done by snowmobile (fisherman drivers snowmobile and guest are in sledge behind the snowmobile),
and not by divers or in a boat.
