Each photograph has its own expression in the exhibition by Bjarne Riesto, who lives in Vadsø in Northern Norway. Some of his photos are documentary, in others it is difficult to recognize the horizon, even it is a central part of the photo.
The term horizon is used both on the physical phenomena – how far we can see, and on our view upon and understanding of the world around us. It can be seen in many ways depending of where we stand physically and mentally, and our ability to take in what we see.
The pictures which all has the horizon as the main subject reflects this different viws, and each has their own expression. Some of the photographs are strictly documentary. On the other hand there are photos where it is difficult to recognize the horizon, but it still play a central part in the picture, and challenge us to reflect on how we look at the world around us.
